Since 2004 my partner, Louise, and our faithful hound Patch have been walking the Lakeland fells and slowly collecting Wainwright's as we go along but the Cumbria Way has always been there in the back of my head as something for the future. On searching the internet to whet my appetite and to see what the route actually involved I found no sites and very few information resources on the route at all.

This website is my answer to that and is primarily designed as a resource centre for the Cumbria Way to help newbies to the route to find out more and hopefully lend a hand in inspiring and cajoling them to tackle a long distance walking holiday in Cumbria.

Hopefully the site will evolve into a useful and informative resource centre for the Cumbria Way on the web and also act as a focal point for user interaction such as trip submissions, photos, tips and advice from Cumbria Way'ers.

thanks

Thanks, as always, to Louise for not moaning (too much!) while I spent hour upon hour on the computer building the site as well as stopping her from going up on the fells whilst we researched the route.

Many thanks to those who have encouraged me to go ahead with this site even when the outdoors was beckoning very loudly or work was beckoning even louder!

Thanks also to those advertisers who have donated money to Mountain Rescue in Lakeland as voluntary 'payment' for a listing on the site.

Finally, a website built by me without mention of Anf Lowney's assistance would be simply wrong - so many thanks to Anf for leaving work in 2007 and going to college thereby keeping his influence out of this site - only joking Anf!
